Plane Crashes On Miami Bridge, Striking an SUV on the Ground

Aviation Accident Attorney Indiana

Airplanes are usually regarded as safer then cars. Aviation accidents are rare, but when they do occur, the injuries and devastation can be significant. In this particular case, one person was killed and five others were injured when a small plane crash-landed on a bridge in Miami earlier this year, hitting an SUV and bursting into flames. The plane went down shortly before 1 p.m. on the Haulover Inlet Bridge near the 10800 block of Collins Avenue. Smoke from the plane’s wreckage could be seen for miles.

The incident was partially caught on vehicle dashcams and can be viewed below:

Federal Aviation Administration officials said there were three people on board the single-engine Cessna 172 when it lost engine power and crashed, hitting a vehicle with three people inside. Two people were able to get out of the airplane alive and 1 person was determined to be deceased. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the aircraft took off from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport headed for Key West and lost engine power soon after takeoff.

Police said the SUV involved was traveling southbound over the bridge when the Cessna hit it head on, causing the plane to flip over and burst into flames. Speaking with reporters hours later, MDPD detective Alvaro Zabaleta addressed the collision and noted, “It is miraculous that you’re traveling in a vehicle, the driver with the two toddlers, and you’re in a head-on collision with an aircraft, and everybody’s OK.”

If we do settle your case or obtain a verdict for you our standard rate is 33% of the settlement or verdict, plus reimbursement for the expense we’ve previously advanced. Our fee never increases like some personal injury attorneys, even if we have to take your case to trial.
